Sunflower seeds

Sunflower is a species of plants of the Asteraceae family.

Sunflower is an unpretentious drought-resistant plant that tolerates spring frosts well. The plant prefers fertile soil, therefore it is not recommended to plant sunflower on acidic or saline soil.
The useful properties of the plant are determined by its chemical composition. The sunflower is rich in flavonoids, glycosides, carotenoids, anthocyanins, scopolines and phenol carboxylic acids. The aboveground part contains betaine, choline, carotene and sterol. The plant’s seeds are used for production of a vegetable oil rich with linoleic and oleic acid.
